Akagi is a 26-episode psychological sports thriller adapted from a manga, produced by MADHOUSE and DR Movie. The series centers on the high-stakes world of competitive mahjong, where the protagonist's unconventional and fearless approach to the game creates intense, cerebral confrontations. Blending the tension of a thriller with the strategic depth of a sports competition, the anime focuses on the psychological warfare and calculated risk-taking inherent in each match.
