Neon Genesis Evangelion is a 26-episode original science fiction anime directed by Hideaki Anno and produced by Tatsunoko Production and Gainax. The series follows teenagers who pilot giant bio-mechanical mecha to defend Earth against mysterious beings known as Angels. It blends mecha action with psychological drama and existential themes.
